A BRIEF HISTORY
1966
Peter opens the second existing steakhouse in the country at the Killarney shopping mall in Johannesburg. It is called the Tom Cat.
1971
Peter moves back to Cape Town and opens Tom Cat in Claremont. It becomes famous for its steaks and basting sauce.
1974
The Tom Cat opens a branch in Sea Point where it proceeds to enjoy many years success. Who can forget the eclectic nightlife!
1987
Peter opens Delfini in Johannesburg. It is a vibrant, family-run restaurant that brings Peter and his family a great deal of joy. It wins the award for “Best Mediterranean Restaurant” for two consecutive years.
1990
While still owning Delfini, Peter simultaneously opens The Slowcoach, a “train” coffee bar in the trendy area of Yeoville, Johannesburg.
1992
Peter is approached with the idea of opening a restaurant at the V&A Waterfront. The good times at The Greek Fisherman are still continuing after more than a decade.
1999
City Grill (directly next door to The Greek Fisherman) opens its doors in November.
2007
The Greek Fisherman receives a New Millennium award in Madrid, Spain. It is the International Award for Tourist, Hotel and Catering Industry.
2007
A new addition to the family, Meloncino, opens just above the City Grill at the V&A Waterfront. It serves the best Italian cuisine in town!
2008
The Greek Fisherman receives a New Millennium award in Geneva, Switzerland. It is the 36th International Trophy for Quality.
2008
The Greek Fisherman receives the Platinum Technology award for quality and best trade name in Rome, Italy.
2008
